Ming-Chia Lin holds a PhD degree of the Department of English of National Taiwan Normal University, and is currently being an assistant research fellow at the National Academy for Educational Research. Lin is interested in the studies on English learning motivations and achievements. Lin believes that continuous language learning (both native and foreign languages) relies on intrinsic motivation, that is, the joy and happiness that accompanies learning. Moreover, Lin posits that the ability to fluently use a language is fundamental to a person’s self-identity, and that multilingual skills facilitate the pursuit of happiness.
