Biography

  Dr. Chou currently works as an assistant research fellow at the National Academy for Educational Research. His research interests are in indigenous education, curriculum and instruction, and multicultural education.

  He was born and raised in Taitung County. As an indigenous person, he is concerned with the development and research of indigenous education. He received his doctoral degree in education from the University of Maryland and returned to Taiwan to immerse himself in indigenous cultural and educational study. He believes that education is a cultural action can arouse awareness, and that it is critical that schools should not only promote and make available to children mainstream knowledge and narratives. His research seeks to find the meaning and implication behind different presentations of indigenous knowledge in educational settings.
