Xin-Ru Wu obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in National Taiwan Normal University. Specialized in Chinese linguistics and language education, she is skilled in using linguistic theories as the basis to analyze the linguistic characteristics of contemporary Chinese in discourses and pragmatics. The analyzed results are further applied to language education. She was an adjunct lecturer of the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in National Taiwan Normal University, a research assistant of Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, and a research assistant of Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency-Huayu. In addition, she was a postdoctoral research fellow of the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in National Taiwan Normal University and the National Academy for Educational Research.
Wu also has experience teaching in Taiwan and overseas. She taught Chinese as a second language in Colby College in the United States as well as National Taiwan Normal University, Tamkang University, and National Tsing Hua University. She was a lecturer of the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in National Taiwan Normal University for 5 years. In addition, she is enthusiastic in compiling teaching materials and has participated in compilation of Practical Audio-Visual Chinese published by the Ministry of Education and the teaching materials of Social Studies for 7th graders in Fremont, California. For multiple instances, she has assumed the role of evaluator in overseas teacher certification held by Overseas Community Affairs Council, Taiwan.?
Her research and teaching experiences render her a researcher and teacher who can balance theory and practice while dedicating her efforts in providing theoretical basis for practice related to language education.
