Dr. Ying-Hsuan Lee received her Ph.D. from the Department of Teaching and Learning at Washington State University with a specialization in Language, Literacy, and Technology. Her research focuses on reading, children’s literature, and second language acquisition. Particularly, she conducted content analysis on children’s literature from varied perspectives and applied the research results to teaching and learning. Currently, she is an Assistant Research Fellow of the Research Center for Testing and Assessment at the National Academy for Educational Research.
Dr. Lee’s teaching experience lies in higher education and primary school domestically and internationally. She had been an adjunct instructor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Washington State University to teach fundamental courses in the teacher education program as well as a paraprofessional at Pullman School District in Washington State to support students of lower achievement, with linguistically and culturally diverse background, and in special education in elementary schools. She was also an adjunct assistant professor at the Chihlee University of Technology to teach college-level English courses and an elementary school substitute teacher.
Ever since Dr. Lee joined NAER, she has engaged in research topics related to the comparison of the high school systems between Taiwan and the U.S.A, bilingual education, experimental education, and human rights education. She hopes to integrate the knowledge of testing and assessment as well as literacy education for her future research to provide suggestions for policy planning and policy–making.
