  •   全球化的浪潮大興,翻譯專業愈顯重要。各國高等教育機構紛紛設立翻譯系所和課程,訓練專業譯員並培養翻譯教師和學者。臺灣在追求國際化的過程中,翻譯人才亦扮演促進國際溝通合作的關鍵角色。但現時臺灣的翻譯教育仍存有諸多問題,特別是學校所學與產業所需常有落差。因此如何協助學生奠定就業技能並順利進入職場,就成為規劃筆譯教育政策和培育人才的重點。本報告為國家教育研究院「翻譯發展策略及人才培育之研究」第二期其中一項子計畫,旨在調查全國筆譯教學現況,並借鑒國外和大陸筆譯教育相關政策措施,提出我國未來筆譯教育政策和有效發展策略。研究方法兼採文件分析與訪談,呈現質性和量性資料。資料來源主要為國家教育研究院「臺灣翻譯產學關聯研究計畫」第一階段和「翻譯發展政策之研究」第一期之研究成果、國內外筆譯教學資料與研究文獻、政府機關報告文書等。其次則是訪談來自國內各大學院校共8位筆譯教師的逐字稿資料。研究主要結果指出國內翻譯和外文相關系所畢業生,實際成為專職譯者的比例相當低。這種現象可呼應另一重要研究結果,就是受訪教師幾乎全數贊成教育部所實施學術型與實務型學位分流的政策。這些教師認為多數就讀翻譯系所的學生對於學習翻譯實務技能較有興趣,有意投入翻譯學術研究的人則相當少。教師們也參照大陸實施「翻譯專業碩士」學位(MTI, Master of Translation and Interpretation)的經驗,分享他們對國內實施類似學制的可行性和隱憂的看法。本計畫之結果希望有助規劃我國筆譯教育未來發展之策略,進而提升國內筆譯教育之品質,為肩負臺灣與世界溝通的堅實橋梁而努力。

  •   In the era of globalization, translation profession is now gaining more and more importance across the world. To cope with the growing demands for highly qualified translators, many translation programs and courses have been set up at universities to train professional translators and translation teachers/scholars. Professional translation services also play a critical role in facilitating Taiwan’s international communication and collaboration. However, many problems still remain unsolved in Taiwan’s translation education system, particularly the mismatch between classroom teaching and workplace requirements. It thus has become a key issue to help students acquire solid translation skills and then embark on a translation career by developing and implementing sound translation education policies. This report is a sub-project within an integrated research project called “A Study on Taiwan’s Translation Development Strategy and Personnel Training” conducted by National Academy for Educational Research. The purpose of this sub-project is to investigate the current state of translation teaching at universities around Taiwan, and to make suggestions for developing translation education policies based on relevant education policies already implemented in other countries, including Mainland China. This study employed document analysis and interviewing as research methods, collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. The main sources of data included (1) findings from two previous research projects sponsored by National Academy for Educational Research, research literature from both home and abroad, and a variety of official documents provided by government agencies; (2) transcripts from interviewing eight translation teachers at different universities around the country. The primary results of this study show that only a small proportion of graduates from translation and foreign language programs have entered the job market working professionally as translators, which leads to another important finding that almost all translation teachers interviewed agree with the new policy of offering both academic degree and professional degree by the Ministry of Education to meet students’ different learning needs and goals for career planning. These translation teachers indicate that most translation students are more interested in learning practical translation skills than doing academic research. The teachers also share their perspectives and concerns about the possibilities of offering a new degree of Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI) based on the teaching model developed by Mainland China. It is hoped that the results of this study may help provide effective development strategies to improve the quality of translation education so that the future translators can better shoulder the responsibilities to bridge the communication gap between Taiwan and the rest of the world.
