　　學術性辭典與百科全書類工具書是基礎學術知識的整理與累積，這類工具書的編輯與出版通常需要投入較多的人力及經費。因此，本研究從使用者的角度探討學術性辭典與百科全書類工具書使用現況、使用需求及使用行為，運用問卷及訪談資料進行統計及分析。

　　研究發現受訪者使用學術性辭典多於百科全書類工具書，常用在教學和研究或翻譯工作，尤其又以研究為多；且無論是使用學術性辭典與百科全書類工具書都有查詢的困難，另外也有內容更新不即時、翻譯沒有標準化的問題；從學術性辭典與百科全書類工具書的內容部分來看，無論是問卷或是訪談都發現受訪者較注重「釋義」和「例證」的部分，但對於「辭（字）源」和「參考資料」的部分也有使用上的需求。問卷統計和訪談結果對於電子版和紙本工具書的看法也是相當一致，皆認為偏向使用電子版工具書，但無論電子版或紙本學術性辭典與百科全書類工具書都有存在的必要性。

　　最後，本研究建議在工具書內容方面，注重名詞翻譯的一致性、「釋義」、和及時的更新。在推廣方面，以數位化工具書為主，而且需注重提供使用者方便使用的介面設計。此外，本研究成果亦可供國教院精進「雙語詞彙、學術名詞暨辭書資訊網」及發展工具書雲端系統之參考。

　　Academic dictionary and encyclopedia are finishing with basically academic knowledge accumulated, editing and publishing usually need to invest more workforce and funds. Therefore, this research investigate the using situation, requirement and behavior of academic dictionaries and encyclopedias in user's view by using questionnaire and interview data for statistical and analysis.

　　The result showed those questioned who used academic dictionaries more than encyclopedia, basically used in teaching and researching or translating, especially in researching used. Whether academic dictionary or encyclopedia, both of them have problems of inquiring, contents updating do not immediate and no standardized translation. In the part of contents, user prefer to the meaning and example. But there also have requirement in word etymology and reference. Questionnaires statistics and interview result show user prefer using electronic books than traditional books. Whether electronic or paper dictionaries and encyclopedias have the necessity to retain.

　　There are some recommendations for future development, such as terms translation consistency, terms interpretation, updating immediate, digital reference books with user-friendly interface design.
